08/11/10  YAY - Nelson Sauvin hops have arrived.  Made famous with the Knappstein's Lager.  We've put a lager on in anticipation of the hops arrival so we'll be able to post the results soon or come in for a taste.  Once again, 'finger on the pulse'.

Hop plants back in stock in Oct.  Very short window of selling due to the rapid growth of the rhizomes.

Second hand grolsch bottles $2.50 each or $2 each per dozen

With the recent hiccups behind us now, all is great at 222 Liverpool St.  The walls - thanks dad!! - are finished and floors sealed.  The corks are back on display.  The Christmas tree is back by popular demand - 120 Grolsh bottles later... burp... :-)

We are also the only home brew shop on Liverpool St to have the new Citra hop - featured in the new 'Malt Runner' from James Squire - awesome hop!!!  Finger on the pulse...

Jay is keen to see how the brews are done at the James Squire 'Bounty' in Salamanca so he can finally use all our full mash gear - which was supposed to be up and running by now - sorry.

UPCOMING EVENT

As you are involved in the world of brewing and beer we would love to invite you along to the launch of Willie Simpson’s new book

The Australian Beer Companion – Your Guide to Australia’s Top Breweries and Microbreweries at Fullers Bookshop on Sunday, August 16, at 2pm.

Willie is well known in beer circles far and wide – and is the owner and brewer at Seven Sheds Brewery in North West Tasmania.

He has been commenting on the amber nectar for more than twenty years.

Willie has travelled the country, sampling and interviewing, to create a comprehensive beer guide as a homage to our nation of vibrant beer making and drinking.

More than 100 breweries are featured in the book including a number of Tasmanian microbreweries including Iron House Brewery, Wineglass Bay Brewing, Two MetresTall, Taverners and Moo Brew.

This event is one of the last to be hosted in the current Fullers’ premises as we excitedly prepare to move to a larger space at 131 Collins Street.

It will be of particular interest to anyone who may enjoy an occasional foray into the world of beer.

P.S.  Amanda Conrad B.App.Sc
.,rated a mention in the acknowledgements page for offering plenty of advice, recipes and for acting as technical editor of the book.

WOW  Check out the competition Cascade Brewery has cooked up for Tas Home Brewing Supplies customers!!!!!!!  See below....

Bring your brew out of the back shed and up to the brewery
Purchase your favourite Cascade homebrew kit at The Homebrew shop.
Place your name, contact details & the “drop”  that you will be making on the entry sheet.
Head out to the back shed, laundry, outside dunny or wherever your “brewery” is located and get brewing.
You then need to drop off 3 “tallies” of your treasured drop at The Homebrew shop by Friday the 25th of August. These need to be clearly labelled with the variety of beer brewed and your name.
Rock up the Cascade Visitor Centre at 6:00pm on Tuesday the 29th of August to enjoy a couple of free beers and watch the judging take place.

Sorry it has been such a long time between updates!  We've been busy getting the information together for the "troubleshooting" pages.  This all takes time and won't be long!!  Updated the "What's brewing" page.

16/06/06

Added a "what's brewing" page and started a "troubleshooting" page.
The "what's brewing" page is to let you know what we are brewing on the premises.  Often new beer kits come in and we need to test/try them out.  The wine recipes have been inspired by Oz Clarke's book "Introducing Wine" in our library, feel free to ask about them!!
Keep an eye out on the "troubleshooting" page as it is still under construction!!  We hope it may answer some of the most common problems that we address on a daily basis.

09/06/04
